The Brian Mertes Duo

Brian Mertes and Peter Bavasi are best friends playing music together since 1958!  Brian on guitar and Peter on drums played in high school and college dance bands through 1964.  Now, fifty-eight years later and long retired, Brian and Peter are back playing music together and thrilled to bring live entertainment to the Senior Center!


The Duo offers a playlist of over 300 songs, including standards from the Great American Songbook, the Frank Sinatra catalog, soft rock, country tunes from the ‘60s, and more!

Movement with Michael 


Michael Liederman is a Physical Therapist with more than 10 years’ experience working with people of all ages.  He is an expert in modalities that improve overall functional mobility, physical safety, pain management, and mitigate disability.  In this interactive, hands-on class Michael provides range of motion and strengthening exercises that assist with safely walking, standing, and climbing stairs.  Michaels youthful energy makes learning to prevent falls fun!  Join Michael the 2nd Monday of each month.

Coping with Grief During the Holidays

presented by James Wieme, LMFT


Each day is difficult enough following the death of a loved one, and the holidays often bring new challenges, concerns, and confusion. Learn practical tools and tips to help navigate the holidays. Presenter, James Wieme, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with The Elizabeth Hospice where he provides grief related therapy and facilitates specialized grief support groups. Jim will help participants create a plan for coping with expectations and commitments during the holiday season.

Calling All Chess Players! 





Researchers have found evidence that playing chess may result in improved brain function, memory, cognitive abilities, and strategic thinking.  Each Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 pm, enjoy a friendly game of chess at the Senior Center.  All levels of players are welcome.  Free instruction for beginners.  Tables and playing pieces are provided.

Tai Chi & Balance 

with Mordy Levine 

Mordy Levine is an instructor of yoga, Tai Chi, karate, and meditation.  Mordy is the creator of the Meditation Pro Series that teaches meditation for different conditions that affect Western civilization (e.g., stress, insomnia, weight issues, smoking).  To date, over 900,000 people have learned to meditate through his series of meditation programs.


  • Learn basic forms of Tai Chi and Chi Kung.

  • Emphasis is on posture, balance, muscle relaxation & breathing.

  • Geared specifically for beginners and senior citizens.

  • Learn basic meditations - emphasis on breathing and relaxation.


There is a $10 fee per class paid to the instructor.

Art with Jan O'Hara








Join Jan and other artists for a weekly art class.  Bring your own project to work on or begin a new flower (pictured here) with Jan's step-by-step instruction.  This can be done in oil, acrylic, watercolor, or colored pencils.  Students will need to bring their own supplies. 


There is a $20 fee per class paid to the instructor.

Chair Yoga

with Peggie Moore

Peggie Moore, is a certified Yoga Instructor (RYT500), Reiki Master, and has also received her certification as a BEWELL Yoga for Cancer teacher. Peggie has practiced yoga her entire adult life and is passionate about working with every age, size, shape, and ability who has the desire to find their way to yoga and to a healthier, happier life. This class will teach you ways in which you can reduce stress, improve well-being, and improve your strength and flexibility. Appropriate modifications are provided for students.
